flydubai has announced applications will open in September 2025 for its Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Apprenticeship, offering Emirati high school graduates a fully sponsored pathway into aviation careers.
The four-year programme, run by the airline’s Maintenance and Engineering department, is part of the UAE National Development initiative and provides both technical training and hands-on experience. Successful candidates will work toward becoming certified Aircraft Technicians, approved by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
The apprenticeship is open to UAE Nationals aged 17 to 24 who meet eligibility requirements. Participants will undergo intensive theoretical training before advancing to practical experience on operational aircraft, where they will maintain official logbooks. Graduates will be eligible to apply for the GCAA’s Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence and for permanent roles at flydubai.
Nasser Binkherbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at flydubai, said the programme reflects the airline’s commitment to developing homegrown talent and supporting its growth plans. He added that the success of the first batch highlights the value of bridging education with industry needs.
Alongside this initiative, flydubai continues to expand career opportunities for UAE Nationals through pilot training schemes, cadet programmes, and internships, reinforcing its long-term investment in the country’s aviation workforce.
