Evacuation of 3,820 residents from 764 apartments in the building have been completed
Dubai: Dubai Civil Defence teams has successfully extinguished a fire that broke out late on Friday evening in a residential building in the Dubai Marina area within 6 hours.
As firefighters race to bring the blaze under control, other emergency response units are focused on safely evacuating residents from the affected 67-storey building.
Authorities confirmed that operations are ongoing, with efforts concentrated on ensuring the safety of all occupants and preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings. Emergency crews are moving swiftly and cautiously to protect lives and property.
“At around 1:30am, the fire started to slow down. It has been burning for the past two hours. Plenty of debris has been falling,” said a resident of a nearby building. “It looks like the Civil Defence is getting the fire under control,” he added.
In a post on X at 1:44am on Saturday, the Dubai Media Office (DMO) stated that all residents of the 67-storey building had been successfully evacuated by specialised teams, with their health and safety prioritised throughout the operation. It added that efforts to fully contain the fire were still underway.
In a follow-up post on X at 2:09am, the Dubai Media Office stated that ambulance teams and medical personnel were present at the scene, offering full medical and mental health support to the safely evacuated residents.
At 2:21am, the Dubai Media Office further clarified that specialised teams had successfully evacuated 3,820 residents from 764 apartments in the building, ensuring their safety with no reported injuries.
At 2:34am, the Dubai Media Office announced via X that, after ensuring the safety of all residents, Civil Defence teams were continuing their work to fully contain the fire.
