Abu Dhabi, – The Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Congress, currently underway in Abhu Dhabi witnessed a thought-provoking presentation by Dr. Sergei Dvorianov, renowned political scientist and cultural diplomat, on the evolving role of media culture in shaping the BRICS alliance.
In a session titled “East-West Dialogue and Prospects for the Development of the BRICS Alliance,” Dr. Dvorianov emphasized the crucial role of intercultural communication, soft power, and media collaboration in strengthening ties among BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and the recent additions expanding the bloc’s global footprint.
Dr. Dvorianov’s address focused on the transformative power of BRICS Media Culture—a collective effort to foster mutual understanding and reshape narratives between East and West. He argued that while economic and political cooperation remains vital, cultural dialogue and shared storytelling are the true keys to a sustainable multipolar world order.
“Media is not just a tool of influence,” he remarked, “it is a mirror of civilization. BRICS Media Culture is about restoring balance to global narratives and creating a platform where voices from the Global South are heard, respected, and celebrated.”
The presentation delved into the concept of East-West Dialogue as a mechanism for bridging ideological and geopolitical divides. Dr. Dvorianov proposed a model where media cooperation acts as a diplomatic bridge, enabling nations to engage not through confrontation, but through co-creation, cultural diplomacy, and shared development goals.
In the context of an expanding BRICS+ framework, with new member states from Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America joining the bloc, media culture is poised to play a unifying role. “We are no longer speaking in separate rooms,” he said. “Through media, we are creating a common cultural space.”
