Dubai’s Public Transport Serves Over 2.5 Million Riders on New Year’s Eve 2025
Dubai witnessed a significant surge in public transport usage during the New Year’s Eve 2025 celebrations, with 2,502,474 passengers utilizing public transport, shared mobility, and taxis.

This marks a 9.3% increase from the 2,288,631 passengers recorded during last year’s celebrations.

The Dubai Metro emerged as the backbone of the city’s transport network, accommodating 1,133,251 riders across its Red and Green lines. The Dubai Tram recorded 55,391 passengers, while public buses carried 465,779 commuters. Marine transport services, including abras and ferries, served 80,066 passengers.

Taxis remained a popular choice, transporting 571,098 individuals, while e-hailing vehicles served 195,651 users. Additionally, shared transport vehicles catered to 1,238 passengers, reflecting Dubai’s growing adoption of sustainable transport options.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) attributed the seamless movement of passengers to a robust operational plan executed in collaboration with relevant Dubai entities. The plan ensured efficient and safe access to celebration venues across the city.

This year’s increase underscores Dubai’s commitment to enhancing its public transport infrastructure and its ability to manage large-scale events.
