Dubai’s New Eco-Friendly Mall to Fund Mosque Expenses with Dh8 Million Annual Revenue
Dubai is set to launch an innovative mall designed to support the emirate’s mosques financially. The Dh40 million eco-friendly shopping centre, currently under construction, will allocate its annual revenues to cover the expenses of approximately 50 mosques in Dubai that lack access to endowments.

According to the Endowments and Minors’ Affairs Trust Foundation in Dubai (Awqaf), the project is already 17% complete. This initiative is part of Dubai’s ‘Mosques Endowment’ campaign aimed at bolstering the Dubai Mosques Endowments Fund, ensuring the operational needs of local mosques are met.

Located in Al Khawaneej, the 165,000 sqft mall will feature 29 shops, a large shopping centre, a medical centre, restaurants, and a fitness centre. It will also include essential service facilities, such as roads, garden areas, parking lots, and two prayer rooms for men and women.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the mall will adhere to international standards for green buildings. It will utilize eco-friendly materials, construction techniques, and the latest technologies to generate, save, and recycle energy, including solar and renewable energy sources.

Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf Dubai, accompanied Khalid Al Thani, Deputy Secretary-General, and several division managers and engineers, inspected the progress of the project. Al Mutawa urged government and private entities, institutions, and individuals to contribute to the campaign, highlighting the project as a model of innovation in supporting UAE mosques.
