Dubai Ranked 8th Globally in Power City Index 2024, Leads Middle East for Second Year
Dubai has once again secured its position as a global powerhouse, ranking eighth worldwide and first in the Middle East in the 2024 Global Power City Index (GPCI).
Released annually by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation, the index underscores Dubai’s leadership in innovation, economic dynamism, and global connectivity.
This achievement solidifies Dubai’s status as the only Middle Eastern city in the top 10, reflecting its growing prominence as a hub for business, talent, and investment.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, attributed this success to the visionary leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
“Dubai continues to redefine what is possible, combining innovation, sustainability, and a focus on nurturing talent,”
Sheikh Hamdan stated. He praised the city’s world-class infrastructure, progressive legislative framework, and strong public-private partnerships as key drivers behind its growth.
The GPCI ranks cities based on their “magnetism,” evaluating six dimensions: Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility. Dubai’s dynamic ecosystem, focus on sustainability, and efforts to improve quality of life have earned it recognition as a benchmark for urban innovation and resilience.
Sheikh Hamdan reaffirmed Dubai’s commitment to sustainable growth and strategic innovation, ensuring it remains a city of the future.
“We are setting new benchmarks for excellence,”
he said, highlighting Dubai’s role in creating opportunities across industries and attracting global talent and investment.
With its rise in the GPCI, Dubai continues to enhance its reputation as a global leader, cementing its place at the forefront of economic and urban development.
