Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has significantly strengthened oversight of the emirate’s rail systems, completing more than 7,000 inspections in 2025 to ensure the safety and reliability of both Metro and Tram services.
A total of 7,129 field inspections were carried out along rail corridors, enabling authorities to identify technical issues that were swiftly addressed by on-ground teams. These corrective measures were implemented in accordance with approved safety procedures, helping to minimise operational risks and maintain seamless service delivery.
Beyond routine inspections, the RTA also launched 11 targeted campaigns in collaboration with developers and relevant stakeholders. These initiatives spanned all lines and stations, focusing on adherence to safety standards, infrastructure readiness, and contractor compliance within the designated Railway Protection Zone.
According to officials, the efforts form part of a broader strategy built on three key pillars: safeguarding rail assets for long-term sustainability, enforcing regulatory compliance, and enhancing coordination with partners to resolve issues efficiently.
The RTA highlighted that its proactive approach is designed to detect and mitigate risks early, reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to a safe, dependable, and future-ready public transport system.
The authority added that it will continue regular inspections and awareness programmes in partnership with stakeholders to uphold high safety standards and protect passengers across the network.
