Dubai Municipality has achieved a major milestone in accessibility and inclusion, with eight of its most popular parks and recreational destinations officially recognised as Certified Autism Centers™ (CAC) by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
The certification, announced during the AccessAbilities Expo 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, covers Dubai Frame, Children’s City, Quranic Park, Al Mamzar Beach Park, Mushrif National Park, Creek Park, Zabeel Park, and Safa Park. The recognition underscores Dubai Municipality’s ongoing commitment to creating inclusive public spaces that cater to the needs of all visitors, including those with autism and sensory sensitivities.
The achievement follows a comprehensive evaluation process involving staff training, facility assessments, and the implementation of new accessibility features. Enhancements across the certified parks include sensory-friendly zones, quiet rooms, clearer signage, wheelchair-accessible pathways, and improved restroom facilities. Designated parking spaces and priority entrances have also been introduced to make visits smoother and more comfortable for families.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said the certification sets new standards for inclusive recreation in the city.
“Our goal is to provide safe, engaging, and welcoming parks where every family feels valued and supported,”
he noted, adding that the initiative will expand to more destinations across Dubai.
IBCCES CEO Myron Pincomb praised the city for setting a global benchmark in accessibility. With over 220 parks welcoming more than 31 million visitors in 2024, Dubai continues to strengthen its position as a world leader in creating inclusive, family-friendly environments.
