Dubai: Driving on Dubai’s busy roads requires full attention — especially near the city’s tram tracks. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a strong reminder to motorists that ignoring tram signals or entering restricted tram lanes is not only illegal but also dangerous.
Motorists who flout these rules risk facing penalties of up to Dh3,000. What may seem like a shortcut to save a few seconds can lead to major disruptions, accidents, and costly fines.
The RTA stressed that a single careless action can delay journeys for hundreds of commuters. To drive the message home, the authority has intensified its social media campaign, warning drivers to respect tram lane rules and signals.
Dubai Police have also highlighted that slow driving in fast lanes is as hazardous as speeding, with offenders facing a Dh400 fine.
Authorities are urging all road users to stay alert and follow traffic regulations to ensure safety and smooth travel across the city’s road network.
