Dubai Hosts Fifth Shoulder Surgery Conference
The Fifth Dubai Course and Exhibition for Shoulder Surgery, held at Mohammed Bin Rashid College of Medicine and Health Sciences, continued on Sunday, drawing experts from across the globe to discuss advancements in shoulder surgery.
The event, running from October 25-27, included extensive sessions on arthroscopic surgery, joint implants, fracture management, and the integration of cutting-edge technology in shoulder treatments.
Dr. Osama Saleh, Secretary of the Arab Society of Shoulder and Attachment and Chairman of the Conference, revealed that over two days, 120 doctors received specialized training on advanced shoulder joint replacement, emphasizing the use of artificial intelligence and robotics. Additionally, a dedicated course offered training for physical therapists in rehabilitation techniques for shoulder-related conditions, underscoring the event’s commitment to comprehensive care. Dr. Saleh highlighted major regional shoulder health concerns, such as frequent dislocations in younger patients, tendon tears, and joint replacements for elderly individuals.
The conference also attracted significant industrial participation, with over 15 pharmaceutical and medical device companies presenting the latest AI, robotics, and endoscopic technologies to improve shoulder surgery outcomes. Attendees benefited from 16 scientific sessions and 85 lectures, which covered the latest global innovations in sports medicine and joint reimplantation. Dr. Saleh underscored the unique anatomical needs of Asian and Middle Eastern patients, calling for customized solutions to improve treatment outcomes.
With a focus on complex cases, the event provided a collaborative platform for international specialists, fostering valuable knowledge-sharing and advancing regional expertise in orthopaedics.
