Dubai Health has unveiled the Blue Café initiative, a groundbreaking program aimed at improving autism care for children as part of its ongoing commitment to the “Patients First” promise.

This innovative platform combines education, research, and community support to elevate autism care, making it more accessible and effective for families across Dubai.

The Blue Café, initially introduced as a clinical consultation program at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, now operates under Dubai Health’s broader umbrella. Recognizing the challenges faced by families following an autism diagnosis, the initiative seeks to create a supportive environment where parents and caregivers can connect, share experiences, and learn from each other.

As a “living lab,” the Blue Café integrates the latest research with real-world community experiences. Dubai Health’s learning experts have developed research-informed content on autism care, presented in a microlearning format to fit into the busy schedules of families. The platform also features webinars that translate cutting-edge research into practical strategies for everyday care. Additionally, the initiative includes an online community forum, providing a safe space for families to ask questions and exchange valuable insights.

In the coming months, a physical Blue Café will open in Dubai, offering a welcoming space for families and caregivers to gather. Notably, all proceeds from the café will be directed towards funding further research into autism care.

Professor Nabil Zary, Senior Director of the Institute of Learning (IOL) at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating,

“Blue Café was born from a desire to support the well-being of children with autism. We are proud to launch this first-of-its-kind living lab, combining research with real-world experiences.”
The initiative aligns with the global recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, with the color blue symbolizing calmness, understanding, and stability in autism awareness efforts worldwide.
