Dubai’s gaming industry is gaining momentum, with over 60 new companies established since the launch of the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33) in November 2023, marking a 16.6% growth in just seven months.
The programme, spearheaded by the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), aims to position Dubai among the world’s top 10 gaming hubs by 2033. Today, the city is home to more than 350 gaming-related companies, including 260 specialised game developers, contributing to a global industry valued at $200 billion.
Launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, DPG33 is designed to create 30,000 new jobs and add $1 billion to Dubai’s GDP within the next decade. The initiative focuses on fostering innovation, nurturing talent, and building a robust digital ecosystem that supports game development and content creation.
Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of DFF, highlighted the sector’s rising potential, stating that Dubai’s gaming achievements reflect its broader vision for a future-ready economy built on diversification and innovation.
“Dubai will remain a land of opportunity and a destination for creators and innovators,”
he said.
The programme also connects entrepreneurs, global companies, and academic institutions through training, employment opportunities, and industry events, creating a collaborative environment for sustainable growth.
With its strategic vision and proactive investment in future industries, Dubai continues to solidify its position as a global hub for digital innovation.
