Dubai Future Foundation and Amazon UAE have launched a new programme that allows individuals to deliver packages on foot, creating flexible opportunities within the gig economy while advancing Dubai’s innovation and sustainability goals.
The initiative is part of Sandbox Dubai, a platform approved by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to support futuristic economic models. By piloting on-foot delivery in densely populated areas, the programme offers individuals and small business owners an additional source of income while reducing traffic congestion and lowering carbon emissions.
Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, Africa and Türkiye, said the partnership reflects Amazon’s commitment to speed, convenience, and flexibility while boosting entrepreneurship and economic growth.
Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, highlighted that the collaboration strengthens Dubai’s position as a hub for innovation and future-ready economic practices.
Sandbox Dubai is a central pillar of the emirate’s Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to double the economy over the next decade and position Dubai among the world’s leading economic cities.
