Dubai: The UAE Environment Agency has warned residents against collecting eggs of wild birds, saying offenders face a jail term or fine of up to 20 000.
Posting on X the Agency said islands in Abu Dhabi serve as vital breeding grounds for migratory terns during the hot summer month and urged residents to work together to protectthe birds.
“Did you know that some islands in Abu Dhabi serve as vital breeding grounds for migratory terns during the hot summer months? Let’s work together to protect these beautiful birds. Avoid collecting eggs and report any such activity to the Abu Dhabi Government at 800555,” they said on their timeline.
The post carried a notice that said Federal Law No. 24 of 1999 prohibits hunting, capturing or harming wild birds and their nests.
