Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Beirut says “scene of chaos” after Israel strikes city centre, destroying two residential buildings and killing at least 22 people, wounding 117, Lebanon’s Health Ministry reports.

Medical sources tell Al Jazeera that 63 Palestinians were killed in Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip on Thursday as a weeklong military siege by Israel in the territory’s north continues to intensify.
In Gaza, at least 42,065 people have been killed and 97,886 wounded in Israeli attacks since October 2023. In Israel, at least 1,139 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 people were taken captive.
