CAIRO, 21st May, 2025 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, met with His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, at Al-Azhar headquarters in Cairo.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on various topics of concern to individuals and society, and discussed ways to promote coexistence among peoples through initiatives that foster openness, fraternity and participation.
The Crown Prince of Fujairah highlighted the role of religious institutions in promoting the values of coexistence among all faiths, and the importance of instilling these values across generations. He commended the role of Al-Azhar as a moral, religious and spiritual authority in advancing global peace.
He also referred to the Document on Human Fraternity, signed by Grand Imam Dr Ahmed Al-Tayeb and the late Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi in 2019, as a global model for promoting principles of human fraternity, coexistence and peace.
Dr. Al-Tayeb expressed his pleasure at meeting the Crown Prince of Fujairah and welcomed new avenues of cooperation, emphasising the strong relationship between Al-Azhar and the UAE. He also affirmed Al-Azhar’s commitment to fostering intellectual and social development in partnership with Fujairah.
The meeting was attended by Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliamen; Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Office of H.H. the Crown Prince of Fujairah.; and Hamdan Karam, Director of the Private Office of the Crown Prince of Fujairah.
