Dubai: Planning a trip to the UAE? Before you book your flight, it’s essential to ensure your tourist or visit visa application is complete, accurate, and aligned with the latest requirements. Even minor mistakes can result in delays or outright rejection, experts warn.
According to Sapna Aidasani, Marketing Director at Pluto Travels, many visa rejections stem from simple, avoidable errors.
Common Mistakes That Lead to Visa Rejections
1. Missing parental details for minors
When applying for a visa on behalf of a minor (under 18 years old), both parents’ full details and written consent must be included. “Applications lacking this information are often rejected by immigration authorities,” Aidasani explained.
2. Duplicate applications
Submitting multiple applications for the same individual can create processing complications. Always check if an existing or pending application is already in the system before reapplying.
3. Reapplying too soon after exiting the UAE
According to Husham Kattingeri, Outbound Travel Supervisor at Regal Tours Worldwide, travellers should wait at least one month before reapplying for a visit visa after leaving the UAE. “Submitting a new application immediately after exit can sometimes cause issues,” he advised.
Updated Visa Requirements for All Travellers
1. Confirmed return or onward ticket
A confirmed return flight reassures immigration authorities that you intend to leave the UAE before your visa expires.
2. Proof of accommodation
Applicants must provide evidence of where they will stay—either a hotel reservation or the address of a UAE-based host. If staying with family or friends, include the host’s Emirates ID and tenancy contract.
3. Proof of sufficient funds
Travellers may be required to demonstrate financial means by showing recent bank statements or proof of cash between Dh2,500 and Dh3,000. For Indian nationals, Aidasani added, a minimum bank balance of INR 50,000 (around Dh2,175) is recommended.
4. Carry printed copies of all documents
Always keep printed copies of your flight details, accommodation proof, and financial documents. “Having physical copies helps establish that travellers are genuine visitors,” Kattingeri noted.
Essential Documents for a UAE Tourist Visa
Rikin Sheth, Assistant Vice President at Musafir.com, emphasized that incomplete or unclear documentation remains one of the leading causes of visa refusals.
Applicants should ensure the following documents are in order:
A passport valid for at least six months
A recent passport-sized photo
Confirmed flight and accommodation bookings, or a UAE guarantor’s Emirates ID and tenancy contract
Financial proof, if requested
Travellers who have previously entered the UAE on a 30-day tourist visa must also note that re-entry is permitted only after a 30-day gap. Immigration authorities have tightened scrutiny on frequent short-term visits to prevent misuse of the visa system.
