Dubai, UAE — Four people were injured after drones were shot down near Dubai International Airport on Wednesday, according to the Dubai Government Media Office (DMO). Authorities confirmed that flight operations at the airport have since resumed and the situation is under control.
Officials reported that two drones were intercepted and destroyed close to the airport, causing debris to fall in nearby areas and injure four individuals. Emergency teams responded quickly, and the injured were taken for medical treatment. No fatalities have been reported from the incident.
Despite the brief disruption, airport authorities confirmed that normal flight operations have resumed at Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs.
The incident comes amid escalating regional tensions following ongoing military exchanges between the United States, Israel, and Iran. The conflict began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iranian targets, claiming they were eliminating imminent threats. Iran has strongly rejected the accusations, describing the attacks as a violation of its sovereignty.
Over the past 12 days, Iran has launched retaliatory strikes targeting Israel and several Gulf countries.
Regional developments include:
- The US reportedly destroyed Iranian minelayers in the Strait of Hormuz amid concerns about threats to international shipping.
- Former US President Donald Trump warned Iran against deploying naval mines in the strategic waterway.
- Israeli authorities say 11 civilians have been killed in Iranian retaliatory attacks.
- Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations claims that more than 1,300 civilians have died due to US-Israeli strikes.
Meanwhile, UAE defense systems have been actively intercepting incoming threats. Authorities confirmed that on Day 11 of the conflict, the United Arab Emirates destroyed 8 ballistic missiles and intercepted 26 drones.
According to official figures, the attacks so far have resulted in 6 deaths and 122 injuries in the UAE.
Government authorities continue to urge residents to remain calm and follow official safety guidance as defense systems remain on high alert across the country.
