ISLAMABAD — A suicide bombing outside a district court in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, has killed at least 12 people and left several others injured, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi confirmed on Tuesday.

According to police, the attacker attempted to enter the court complex on foot but detonated the explosive device near a police vehicle after waiting outside for about 10 to 15 minutes.

“This is not just another bombing — it happened right here in Islamabad,” Naqvi said while addressing reporters at the scene, adding that investigations were underway from “different angles.”

Emergency teams rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals, where several victims remain in critical condition, according to hospital sources.

The explosion occurred near the main entrance of the Islamabad district court, an area often crowded with litigants and law enforcement officers. Local media footage showed bodies and injured civilians lying beside a damaged police van as rescue workers and bystanders scrambled to help.

Authorities have cordoned off the area as security agencies begin a full-scale investigation into the attack.
