MANILA – A 41-year-old Filipina scheduled to travel to Dubai was arrested at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after immigration authorities discovered she had an active warrant of arrest for alleged large-scale illegal recruitment and estafa.
According to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), the woman was intercepted on July 5 at NAIA Terminal 3 during routine immigration screening before boarding her international flight.
Authorities said the Bureau of Immigration’s database flagged the passenger after officers found an outstanding warrant issued against her. Personnel from the NAIA Police Station 3 immediately verified the information and coordinated with the Manila Police District (MPD) Warrant and Subpoena Section, which carried out the arrest at the airport.
The suspect is facing charges of large-scale and syndicated illegal recruitment under Republic Act No. 8042, the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995, as amended by Republic Act No. 10022. The offense is considered non-bailable under Philippine law.
She is also facing an estafa charge in connection with Republic Act No. 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. The estafa case carries a recommended bail of ₱30,000.
Following her arrest, the woman was turned over to the Manila Police District for documentation and further legal proceedings.
PNP AVSEGROUP Director Police Brigadier General Dionisio Bartolome Jr. reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to tracking down wanted individuals and ensuring they face due legal process.
“We continue to strengthen our campaign against wanted persons to ensure that those facing criminal cases are brought before the proper process of law,” Bartolome said.
