As residents across the UAE prepare for Eid Al Adha celebrations, authorities in four emirates have announced free public parking during the holiday period, giving families and visitors easier access to gatherings, shopping destinations, and entertainment spots.
Eid Al Adha in the UAE will begin on Wednesday, May 27, following the Day of Arafah holiday on Tuesday, May 26.
Long holiday for UAE workers
Public sector employees will enjoy a holiday from Monday, May 25, to Friday, May 29, 2026. Combined with the weekend, many government employees could receive a nine-day break before returning to work on Monday, June 1.
Private sector employees will receive a four-day paid holiday from Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, May 29, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Employees with Saturday and Sunday weekends will enjoy a six-day break.
Free parking details by emirate
Dubai – 6 days free parking
Authorities in Dubai announced free parking from Monday, May 25, to Friday, May 29. Since parking is already free every Sunday, motorists will effectively benefit from six consecutive days without parking charges starting Sunday, May 24.
Residents will not need to renew parking through Roads and Transport Authority smart channels during the holiday period.
Abu Dhabi – 6 days free parking
In Abu Dhabi, public parking will also be free from Monday, May 25, to Friday, May 29, with regular parking fees resuming on Saturday, May 30.
As parking is already free on Sundays in the capital, motorists will enjoy six days of free parking overall.
However, multi-storey parking facilities will continue charging normal fees throughout the holiday.
Authorities also confirmed that Darb toll gates at Sas Al Nakhl, Al Maqta’, Rabdan, and Al Saadiyat will be free during Eid. The Al Qurm and Ghantoot toll gates will continue operating with the usual Dh4 fee per crossing.
Ajman – 4 days free parking
Ajman Municipality announced free parking from Tuesday, May 26, until Friday, May 29. Paid parking services will resume on Saturday, May 30.
Sharjah – 3 days free parking
Sharjah City Municipality confirmed that public parking will be free during the first three days of Eid, from Wednesday, May 27, to Friday, May 29.
Regular paid parking timings in Sharjah operate from Saturday to Thursday between 8am and 10pm.
