A long-anticipated heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is edging closer to reality after promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that both fighters have signed an agreement to meet later this year.
Hearn announced the breakthrough on social media, declaring the fight “signed, sealed, delivered,” signaling a major step toward one of boxing’s most sought-after matchups. The bout is expected to take place in November, following Joshua’s scheduled return to the ring in July.
Joshua, a former two-time world heavyweight champion, is set to face Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25. The fight, described as “The Comeback,” will mark his first appearance since a serious car accident in December that tragically claimed the lives of two close friends.
The British fighter holds a professional record of 28 wins and four defeats, and last fought in December, when he stopped Jake Paul in the sixth round in Miami.
Speaking ahead of his return, Joshua said he had taken time to rebuild and refocus, adding that he is eager to resume his career and reclaim his standing in the heavyweight division.
Hearn indicated that the July bout will serve as a preparation fight before the proposed November clash with Fury, who recently returned to action with a convincing victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Fury has openly called for the fight, urging Joshua to finally settle their long-standing rivalry in what fans have dubbed the “Battle of Britain.” The two former champions have never faced each other professionally, despite years of speculation and failed negotiations.
If finalized, the bout is expected to be one of the biggest events in modern boxing, drawing global attention and potentially taking place in Saudi Arabia as part of a major international fight promotion.
