Authorities in Abu Dhabi have confirmed that air defence systems successfully intercepted an incoming Iranian missile near the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), resulting in minor damage but no reported injuries.
According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the situation was swiftly contained, and emergency response teams were deployed to assess the impact area. Officials reassured the public that the damage was limited and that there is no ongoing threat in the affected zone.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, around 4:30am, when the UAE’s Ministry of Defence detected and neutralised multiple missile and drone threats. Residents across parts of the country reported hearing loud sounds, which authorities later confirmed were the result of successful interceptions.
In response, emergency alerts were issued, urging residents to take immediate precautions and remain indoors until further notice. Authorities emphasised the importance of public safety and responsible behaviour during such situations.
Residents have been advised to prioritise safety by avoiding unnecessary travel, refraining from recording or sharing unverified information online, and relying solely on official sources for updates. Motorists were instructed to continue driving safely to their destinations and seek shelter upon arrival rather than stopping on roads.
Emergency services also reminded the public to use hotlines responsibly, reserving calls to 999 strictly for genuine emergencies to ensure swift assistance where it is most needed.
