DUBAI:-Air defence systems in the United Arab Emirates successfully intercepted and engaged nine unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran on Wednesday, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Defence.
The latest incident comes amid escalating hostilities, with authorities describing the attacks as part of a broader pattern of Iranian aggression. Since the beginning of the conflict, UAE air defences have intercepted a total of 357 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,815 UAVs.
Officials confirmed that the attacks have resulted in the deaths of three UAE armed forces personnel while on duty. In addition, six civilians of various nationalities- including Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, and Palestinian – were killed.
A further 166 people have been injured, with cases ranging from minor to severe. Those affected represent a wide cross-section of nationalities, including citizens from the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and several other countries.
The Ministry of Defence reiterated its readiness to respond decisively to any threats, emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and stability.
Authorities maintain that all necessary measures are being taken to protect the country and its residents as tensions in the region continue to unfold.
