The Digital School, an initiative under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, has launched a major program with the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government to train 10,000 digital teachers.
The initiative, developed in partnership with Arizona State University, aims to equip educators with modern teaching skills that integrate technology and innovation into classrooms.
This new phase builds on the success of an earlier program supported by Dubai Cares, which trained and certified 2,400 teachers. The expansion reflects the shared commitment of both sides to advance education quality and prepare the region’s schools for a knowledge-based future.
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Chairman of the Digital School, said developing teachers’ digital capabilities is a key focus of the initiative. He noted that the partnership serves as a model for sustainable education and helps create a generation of teachers skilled in technology, creativity, and critical thinking.
His Excellency Alan Hama Salih, Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government, praised the Digital School’s flexible learning model, which overcomes language and geographic barriers and offers personalized training.
The program is organized under the Global Academy for Digital Teachers, which provides accredited training in Kurdish, Arabic, and English. It combines global educational standards with localized accessibility, offering incentive packages for outstanding participants.
Founded in 2020 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Digital School has reached over 750,000 students and trained more than 23,000 teachers across several languages, continuing its mission to expand access to quality digital education worldwide.
