Dubai Future City Leaders Review Strategies to Build Resilient and Innovative Urban Spaces
Dubai’s Future City Leaders Majlis has reviewed strategies to develop cities that prioritize resilience, innovation, and quality of life.
Held as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum, the gathering focused on infrastructure, mobility, and urban planning designed to meet the challenges of climate change, resource management, and population growth.
The Majlis was chaired by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority. Al Tayer highlighted that the forum draws inspiration from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, whose leadership emphasizes people-centric development and happiness. He cited key initiatives including the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, Dubai Economic Agenda D33, Hatta Master Development Plan, Dubai Social Agenda 33, and Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033.
Participants emphasized that the measure of a modern city lies not in its skyscrapers but in its ability to ensure resilience, equality in resource distribution, and sustainable urban growth. An interactive workshop led by Danish consultancy Gehl challenged attendees to simulate urban scenarios for 2040, making strategic decisions on infrastructure, resource allocation, and crisis management.
The Majlis is one of several councils under the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum, which convenes over 1,000 leaders from government and private sectors. The forum provides a platform for exchanging ideas and shaping policies that align with Dubai’s long-term vision of becoming the world’s leading city in innovation, sustainability, and quality of life.
