H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has unveiled a landmark AED2 billion hyperscale data centre during his visit to Dubai AI Week 2025.
The project, developed by du in collaboration with Microsoft, marks a major step in advancing the emirate’s digital and AI infrastructure.
The facility will be built in phases to address surging demand for cloud services, AI capabilities, and sovereign data solutions. Microsoft will be the primary tenant, leveraging the centre to expand its regional cloud footprint and support next-gen digital services.
Sheikh Hamdan, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Dubai Future Foundation, said,
“The project reinforces Dubai’s commitment to digital transformation and innovation. Data is the wealth of the future and the foundation of technological progress.”
The announcement aligns with the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, launched in 2024, which focuses on AI integration in government, nurturing national talent, and expanding data infrastructure.
Held from 21–25 April across venues including the Museum of the Future and AREA 2071, Dubai AI Week gathers over 180 speakers and participants from more than 100 countries. Organised by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, the event showcases Dubai’s vision to lead in AI innovation and sustainability.
With this development, Dubai strengthens its position as a global tech hub, supporting future economies while boosting digital capabilities across the region.
