Cairo: Kuwaiti police are hunting for an expatriate accused of stealing wedding dresses and accessories worth nearly $52,000.
Investigators have ordered the expatriate, whose nationality was not revealed, be placed on the wanted list, after a Kuwaiti woman had filed a legal complaint claiming he had stolen the dresses and accessories with a market value of around KD16,000 from her shop, reported Kuwaiti newspaper Al Anba.
The claimant accused the man – an employee – of a breach of trust and said she had tried to contact him in more than one way, but it was to no avail.
She explained in her complaint lodged with police in the Hawalli governorate that the stolen items were wedding dresses, other attires for engagement, and a set of crystals and accessories.
The woman voiced fears that the accused would leave for his home country with the loot.
A case of breach of trust was recorded against the man and an arrest warrant was issued against him.
It is not clear yet if the accused had stolen these dresses all in one go or over time.
Another case
In a separate case, Kuwaiti security authorities have banned a foreign domestic worker from leaving the country after her employer had accused her of stealing items from his house.
The ban came after an elderly Kuwaiti man filed a legal complaint with police in Al Ahmadi governorate claiming that his domestic helper had stolen a mobile phone and electrical appliances from his house and disappeared, according to Al Anba.
He added that after he woke up in the morning, his wife told him that there was no trace of the maid, and that she called her, but her phone was off.
