Emirates has advised passengers travelling during the upcoming summer holiday period to arrive early at Dubai International Airport (DXB), as a major surge in passenger traffic is expected to begin this weekend.
The airline said Terminal 3 will experience particularly heavy departure volumes between July 3 and July 5, with high traffic anticipated to continue throughout the summer season. Travellers have been urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for airport-related processes, including road traffic approaching the airport, parking, immigration, security screening, and transfers between terminals and concourses.
Emirates recommends passengers arrive at least three hours before departure, complete immigration procedures 90 minutes before take-off, and proceed to their boarding gate no later than one hour before departure.
To ease congestion, the airline is encouraging customers to make use of digital and remote check-in options. Online and mobile check-in is available up to 48 hours before departure. Dubai-based passengers can also check in and drop off luggage up to 24 hours before their flight, or up to 12 hours for flights to the United States.
Additional services include city check-in facilities at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Ajman Central Bus Terminal, where passengers can check in and drop off baggage between 24 hours and four hours before departure. Emirates also offers a Home Check-in service for passengers in Dubai and Sharjah, allowing staff to handle check-in and baggage collection from homes, offices, or hotels. This service is complimentary for First Class passengers and Skywards Platinum members.
To avoid road congestion, Emirates advises travellers to consider using the Dubai Metro to reach Terminal 3. The airline also recommends using self-service kiosks, biometric verification, and automated baggage drop facilities to speed up airport processing.
Passengers are reminded to follow baggage regulations carefully to avoid delays. Power banks must be carried in hand luggage only and are not permitted in checked baggage. Smart luggage is allowed only if batteries are removable or switched off, while electronic cigarettes, portable vaporizers, and electronic incense devices must also be carried in cabin baggage.
Travellers can also pre-order duty-free items via EmiratesRED.com for delivery onboard, helping to save time at the airport.
Emirates added that dedicated assistance services remain available for People of Determination, including priority check-in, immigration, boarding support, trained staff assistance, and accessible parking.
The airline emphasized that early arrival and use of digital services will help passengers avoid delays during what is expected to be one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
