Dubai Centre for Family Businesses Unveils Toolkits to Strengthen Family Business Dynamics
The Dubai Centre for Family Businesses, operating under Dubai Chambers, has launched two new toolkits aimed at helping family-owned businesses manage internal disputes and complex relationships more effectively.
The first toolkit, titled Using Genograms to Navigate Family Business Dynamics, introduces a powerful tool to help businesses understand the familial ties that influence decision-making, succession planning, and daily operations. Genograms—visual representations of family relationships—offer a broader perspective than traditional family trees by capturing emotional connections, social roles, and professional relationships. This method, widely used in medicine and psychology, can help family businesses better navigate interpersonal dynamics that may affect their success.
The second toolkit, the Conflict Resolution Mechanism, provides strategic guidance on addressing and resolving conflicts within family-run enterprises. It outlines a structured approach to dispute resolution, emphasizing the importance of fostering understanding and collaboration among family members to ensure business continuity. The toolkit also includes a conflict resolution charter and proactive methodologies for managing conflicts stemming from differing perspectives, interests, or values.
Both resources aim to equip family businesses with the tools needed to preserve strong relationships and promote long-term success in a complex and evolving business environment.
