Drivers get a 72-hour grace period and daily to yearly parking passes.
Sharjah has launched a new smart parking system powered by artificial intelligence, managing over 90,000 new parking spaces.
The system automatically registers license plates upon entry, allowing drivers to easily check fees and pay via the “Mawqef” app using credit cards or e-wallets.
Designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow and the driver experience, Sharjah’s AI-powered parking system also prevents violations and offers convenient payment options.
Drivers benefit from a 72-hour grace period before fines are issued, as well as long-term parking subscriptions ranging from daily to yearly passes.
How the system works:
License plates are automatically recorded upon a vehicle’s entry into a parking area and linked to the system.
Drivers can use the “Mawqef” parking app to view available parking areas.
By selecting their registered license plate within the app, drivers can view outstanding fees and make payments via credit card or e-wallet.
Drivers can also purchase parking subscriptions for periods ranging from one day to one year.
This service aims to streamline the parking experience, reduce congestion, and improve payment efficiency, further establishing Sharjah as a leader in smart city initiatives.
