Students show their prowess in robotics, electronics and other STEAM-related contests
SABIS welcomed 468 students, over 1,200 parents and 160 staff members to the 2025 STEAM Competition held at SABIS International School – Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi under the theme Explore the Future. This year’s competition brought together SABIS students from the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Muscat, China, Kurdistan and Iraq to showcase their talents and skills in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM), and recorded nearly double the number as last year’s event.
Students competed in robotics, 3D printing, drone, electronics, and electric car. The event also featured an array of other STEAM-related activities, including a new quiz-based competition to showcase students’ academic mastery: fast thinking. The audience were impressed by the students’ programming and engineering skills, innovative projects and understanding of circuits and electronic components, proficiency in digital design and manufacturing, and much more.
An addition this year was an innovation display area where students and parents could explore new and advanced solutions from different companies in the region including LODD, TII, ADNOC, EDNEX, and JACKY’S.
At SABIS, STEAM is recognised as a valuable component in a child’s education as it plays a vital role in preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the future as it nurtures innovation, encourages collaboration, and fuels the art of problem-solving. With that in mind, SABIS has been organising its annual STEAM Competition for four years now, generating excitement for the field, and setting the bar high each year for the next one.
The SABIS STEAM Competition celebrated the achievements of young innovators and the dedication of the entire SABIS community for making the event a success.
“Our goal was to inspire students to explore their interests in STEAM and develop the skills they need to succeed in the future, and this competition did just that,” says Ryan Bistany, Operations Director at SABIS. “The projects and ideas presented were truly remarkable and reflect exactly what SABIS is all about. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far and am already looking forward to next year’s event.”
