In the high-altitude regions of Tibet, traditional burial practices are quite different from what most people are accustomed to. Sky burials involve placing the deceased’s body on a mountaintop, where it is left exposed to the elements and scavenging birds, such as vultures. This practice is rooted in the belief that the body is merely a vessel and that offering it to nature and wildlife is a way of returning the deceased to the cycle of life.
